Old Southern Sayings

My grandparents were from the mountains of Tennessee. They moved to Kentucky in about 1922. Living in Tennessee and later Living in Kentucky they often used old southern sayings that were passed down to their 10 children.  Here are 10 of them that I remember my older relatives using quite often.  I’ve also researched the origin of most of these sayings.  Click the arrows on each section to see more. Read on to find out if you’ve heard any of these.

I hope these old sayings brought back some memories for you like it did me.  We need to keep the tradition of using these old sayings in our conversation.  I know I will carry on the traditions of my elders.  Until next time.  Have a great day!
